You Make Me Happy

Holy cow! What a busy week! Do some weeks just seem to go a warp speed to you? I didn't think I'd ever make it back to the computer, but I've finally made it!!! Okay, so we made this card yesterday at my class. I have to say that it is one of my favorites. It's really clean and crisp in person. Thanks for stoppin' to see if I have something new!!!

Happier Because of you Too

I'm totally in love with this Because of You set now that I own it. It is funny how you have something on your list forever and find a reason not to get it and now, here I am, lovin' it like it just came out. Anyway, the flowers are just colored in with a blender pen-one of my favorite ALL TIME items.
We are half way through the week-YEAH!!!

So a pretty simple card today. The only special thing about it is that the "Au Chocolat" paper was colored with a brayer using rose ink to get it to color match. A brillant idea that I read on someone's blog (whom I would give credit to if I could remember where I saw that.) And I have always loved the Heartfelt Thanks set, it just makes such gorgeous cards. I think it's a really pretty, simple, elegant card. Happy Tuesday everybody!

HOPPY BIRTHDAY!

Okay, I admit it, I'm a little addicted to the shadow box cards. They are just so darn cute! This is another one for my card class this week. If you don't know how to make one, I have an explanation back in the beginning of my blog, but if you click here there is the original tutorial. Back when I wrote mine, I had no idea how to create a link, but since then I have become a little more knowledgeable and can give credit where credit is due.

Better Glitter Card

Okay so it was just killing me that I didn't like the glitter cards final result so I had to do something else to show that technique off. I had to dig out the old Haute Cuture from last year (it's in my garage sale pile for next week). The dress is the perfect thing for this technique. I wish you could see it in person, it totally is evening dress looking. Anyways....had to share.

Big Blooms

Well, for those of you coming to card class next week, this will be one of the cards in your goodie bag at the end of class. It uses the Thumping technique on the flower. You stamp your image in a lighter color, then take a marker and highlight the edges, and "thump" the marker on the stamp in a random pattern. Then you turn it over and stamp it. It gives you that pretty varigated color. My button is just attached with crystal effects. You can make really gorgeous autumn scenes using this technique and the Lovely As a Tree set. Enjoy!

Thank you!!!!

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who left a sweet comment about my tutorial. It really is nice to have somebody say something. I huge Thank YOU to Allisonwho has left a couple of comments on stuff. If you haven't checked out her blog, you need to, it is great! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Window Sheet Glitter Tutorial

Well, this is my first attempt at sharing a "tutorial" with you. I'm sure there is a proper name for this technique, but it escapes me at the moment. It's a fun way to add a visual element to your card using window sheets.
For supplies you will need window sheets, crystal effects, a bottle of reinker, dazzling diamonds glitter, Staz On ink (I used white this time), and a couple of toothpicks.
You start by stamping an image onto the window sheet using the Staz On ink. I used one of the flowers from Big Blooms.
Step two you turn that piece of window sheet over and put an fair amount of crystal effects onto the portion you want to color in.
Next you add a drop or two of reinker into the center of the crystal effects. It depends on the size of the area you are filling in as to how much you need.
Next you will spread that combination around in the area you are filling in.
Then add a small amount of Dazzling Diamonds if you are looking for a shimmery effect. This will now have to dry. Crystal effects dries relatively quickly, but you need to be patient. Walk away for an hour and come back!
I finished by cutting be flower out. I will be totally honest with you, I don't like this card at all! But it is done and I put a lot of work into making the tutorial and didn't want to abandon the idea. Unfortunately I think the card is a bit of a dog, but oh well.
I close up, live version is really sparkly!!!! Hope you can use this. Post something if make something with this technique. Have a great DAY!!!

The Bella's have arrived!!!

I'm so EXCITED!!!! My Bellas have arrived!!! I've been a Stampin' Up demo for 2+ years and in that time I've bought very few non Stampin' Up stamps. But ever since I've been seeing these

bellas
, I'm crazy about them. If you haven't seen them before, they are such great women! You have to go checkout the website. I've made a link at the right too. The little clip I found at Target in the office supplies. The container has turquoise, lavendar, pink, and black clips in it, that are circle, triangle, and square shaped. I've got to play some more with the Bellas today! Have a great Wednesday.

Deepest Sympathy

Interesting that what I had already chosen for today was a sympathy card, in light of what has happened at Virgina Tech today. I hope we will all take a moment to think about and pray for those who are hurting there today.
As for the card, it is a pocket card. The outside is made with the Roses in Winter set. Unfortunately we all need sympathy cards from time to time, and I think the Roses in Winter set makes such elegant cards for that. The inside is a quote I found and printed onto cardstock. It reads:
THERE IS A SACREDNESS IN TEARS.
THEY ARE NOT THE MARK OF WEAKNESS,
BUT OF POWER.
THEY SPEAK MORE ELOQUENTLY
THAN 10,000 TONGUES.
THEY ARE THE MESSENGERS OF OVERWHELMING GRIEF,
OF DEEP CONTRITION,
AND OF UNSPEAKABLE LOVE.

Sweet Hello

Two words at my house today- "stomach flu"-I'll spare you the ugly details! I didn't have the time to make anything new today so I'm just putting up a card from my last card class. It's a fun way to use the Sweet Shapes set. Sorry so short and sweet today!

Just a few Florida Pictures

I said I wasn't going to turn this blog into a all about me place but I just wanted to share a few vacation pictures. Boy don't the kids look happy in the picture with me??? One picture from Cocoa Beach, one from Epcot (with me), and one from Seaworld (fairly obvious with the guy in the wetsuit-a Shamu trainer.) I promise this is it for, all stamping from here on out!!!

HI!!!!

I finally gave in and bought the Big Blossom set out of the Spring mini catalog. I really try to resist buying everything in the beginning of a new catalog, but alas, I couldn't handle it anymore AND I HAD to have it. I was just killing me to not have some new things up on the blog today so I had to whip something up quick before the kids got back from school. I'll be playing more with it tomorrow too.

Anne's card

So this is one of those ideas that has been floating around in my head for quite a while. I, like lots of you, gather inspiration from lots of different places, but this was an easy one. As labor and delivery nurses we get lots of thank you cards sent to us, and one came to my good friend Anne (whom I've addicted to Stampin' Up) and we both agreed it had great potential to become a stamped card. It had all this fun little patchwork on it and I've created it in my head with about 8 different sets and this was just the first one I pumped out today. I think you will be seeing more of this layout from me in coming days. It's white card stock with 9 pieces of 1 1/4" decorative and regular pieces of paper and then the stamped images are on the white cardstock. I cut out some of the images from the designer series paper to put on the plain cardstock. So Anne-this one's for you!!!!!!!

We came back for this?????

Hey everybody, we made it back! It is awful here!!!!!!!!!! 6 inches of snow to come???? I think we made it back at the perfect time though, our drive from the Twin Cities wasn't too bad. I can hardly wait to stamp again. I'll get a post up tomorrow with a few Florida pictures. I just quick pulled up a card from my last class. Hope you all are well, thanks for visiting, I had over a 100 hits while I was gone, that's great for my new little blog!!!!!!!!

My Journal

Well, one last post before we head to sunnier skies. I won't be posting anything new until next Tuesday when we return, so don't forget about me while I'm gone. Today I'm sharing my journal with you. It's made out of the Stampin' Up chipboard journal, with Recollections paper, the flower from Bodacious Bouquet, and some micc. accessories. I love the Cranberry color, boy am I going to miss it when it goes away in a few months!!!! Have a great week!!!!!!!!!!!!! Florida or bust!!!

A HAPPY TRIO

Can you say "Happy to be leaving for Florida"! I CAN! It is miserable here today. Upper 20's, WINDY, and there was snow on the ground this morning. Minnesota is so crazy this time of year!!!!
Well as far as the post goes, we made this at my last class. The picture loses some of the cuteness of the texture of the flower from the YOU MAKE ME HAPPY set, but it still is a pretty card. I'll have one more post tomorrow morning before we go!!!

Happier Because of you

Hi there. I'm a little late with my post today, I'm busy getting everything ready to head to Florida. I just recently got the "Because of You" set. It's been on my wish list since the catalog came out last year, and I finally made myself get it. It is so cute!!!!! The card is made using colors from the color wheel. Trust me, I would never put Cameo Coral with Rose Red, but it does work. I guess the Stampin' Up people do know what they are talking about!!!!

When Kindness Touches

Good Monday morning all. It's a busy week here for us, we leave for Florida on Thursday!!! Today's card is a pretty easy one. Just uses the gorgeous designer papers out of the spring mini catalog and the word set "Friend to Friend". It's always hard to spend money on word sets, but Friend to Friend is one I use a LOT! Papers are Regal Rose and Cool Caribbean. Have a great day, thanks to all of you who are visiting!

Sunday, April 1, 2007

So, I have a REALLY great Stampin' Up upline. She's become one of my really good friends. She is so great about letting me borrow stuff when I am in need. I in return give her any fun things that I make that I think she should have. So after seeing my posts on here about the shadow box cards, she coyly asked "Am I getting one of those?" Of course she was going to get one, but I decided to make one just for her, so here is Kristin's card. It uses the new "You Make Me Happy" set (because she does make me happy). I think it turned out pretty cute!
Check out as well, my new photo watermark. I found this GREAT gal on the web that will design watermarks to be put on your photos to protect them on the web. Her name is Cindy Keery, and you can check her website out her at:

http://watermarkdesigns.blogspot.com

She did a great job, was really fast, and had great explaination of how to get the whole process to work. I'm pretty sure if I can do it, anyone can! You can visit her site by clicking on it at the right.
